Joined Georgia’s foreign service at the early stage of its establishment, in 1993. Throughout his career has substantially contributed to the development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its apparatus: developed the directions of international security as well as conflict resolution policy, established the systems of policy analyses, policy planning and strategic communication in the foreign service. From the very beginning of his diplomatic career was actively involved in bilateral and multilateral negotiations, including conflict resolution and arms control talks. Has tremendous experience of work and cooperation with international organizations, namely the UN, OSCE, the Council of Europe and NATO, focusing primarily on the issues of security, arms control, conflict resolution, and confidence building. Has been involved in active cooperation with national and international non-governmental organizations, working on security and conflict related topics. Has held numerous senior management positions during his career.
